P. (Pia) Braaksma-Reker joined the law firm Koster, Van Zaaijen and Troost in Groningen on 1 March 1980, which merged with the firm of Overes in 1981. In 2009, Overes Lawyers merged with Bout Lawyers. Pia started as a secretary; she later took on the office’s administration. Pia currently works 2.5 days a week and still enjoys looking after the office’s financial administration.
In her long tenure, Pia has seen many colleagues come and go and experienced two mergers. Her work has changed considerably over the years due to automation. It has become easier and less time-consuming: “the days of handwritten tabular cashbooks are thankfully far behind us!”
